I actually plan a GPS module that will increase the flash rate as you go faster. Clearly one may not drive at 88mph so I was planning to build it for 88 and then put some divode code in the software that would work at 11 mph for walking, then 22, 44, 66 and 88. that way it just pulses when stationary or below 2mph (very slow walk) and then does more interesting things depending on speed and the multiplier setting.

The biggest problem is machining the mechanical parts to look just right. The electronins and coding are easy for me. Just cutting, drilling and polishing the clear plastic parts to shape will take some time.

A totally frivolous and useless project but, fun. I shall probaly do most of the machining at Charlotte Hackerspace which I just joined. It lets the inherrent geek in me get out - which is OK when you are retired.

I've done the Warrior Dash and am doing it again this year. It is a blast!! It's not too difficult and you can do it at your own pace. Everyone I know that has done it has had a great time... Just bring a clean set of clothes and shoes!

I have a bunch of friends that will be doing the Electric Run; most of whom have teams & have already registered.

I will be in Chicago at the time, so, I fully expect LOTS of cool pictures!

This one called Great Glow Run at Charlotte Knights Stadium on May 3rd at 8:30

IMO the Electric Run seems like it more exciting more social, but GGR seems good for those who can win.

  Electric Run we are working on some route alterations to allow for 20,000 people. We'll know in a week or two how many we can accommodate.

This sound so much fun but IMO insane to have 20,000 people. How can the serious runners run when its wall to wall people. Im thinking have everyone gather at the Drag Strip.

Hi - I registered for the Electric Run in Charlotte back in March and am now unable to attend due to an unexpected move. I paid $45 and can transfer the membership to someone if interested!
