PLEASE get more than a little antibiotic. My dh cousin almost lost his leg from a bite on his toe (in boot) and my second son was bit when I gave him baseball socks out of the attic. B/C we were aware of the dangers, son was put on very HIGH DOSAGE of powerful antibiotic and we had to take special care to dress the wound everyday. The true telltale sign is the bubbling around the red site and making sure it doesn't start turning black showing signs of tissue decay. Was gonna say don't mean to scare you but actually I am-into making sure you get proper treatment. Husband also had Lyme disease-I'm just full of stories huh? Isn't NC fun with all their lovely critters? Nothing like Houston when I had a Tarantula (actually VERY large wolf spider) come out of my kitchen drain carrying millions of babies on it's back which I saw when I emptied a whole can of Raid on it . The babies jumped off into the puddle created.
Really, anyone bit please make sure to get immediate attention.

OMG the same thing happened to me when I lived in Raleigh. Just when you think you've killed the giant thing, the zillion little babies go scurrying away, like it was some kind of nightmare spider filled with spiders! It's like a horror film. Unbelievable until you see it.

I feel bad for the OP. Spider bites hurt like crazy no matter what kind of spider bit you, and it's all the ickier that it was a brown recluse. I hope you feel better soon!!!

He gave me Bactrim, one of the only things I can take.. allergic to lots of meds. No blistering so far and hope it stays that way! Does still hurt like crazy though and I don't know if it's all in my head or not but, I'm constantly getting a burning sensation and pinching sensation in my leg, not just in the spots where I was bit. Think I might just go back into the Dr's office to see what he says. If anything, I think at this point I need something to calm my nerves. Think my husband is gonna wring my neck the next time I jump and scream when I feel something touching me!!! Got outta bed about 6 times last night and took all the blankets off bed, I could've sworn something was in there!!
Bug guy just came back and sprayed everything again, hopefully that will get rid of them
And yes NC is a great place!!! except for the creepy crawlies!!!!!

I found this information;
Brown Recluse Locations
Lesions obtained in states other than: FL, TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, TN, AR, OK, NB, IA, KS, MO, IL, IN, or OH are not likely to be caused by Brown Recluse spiders.
It’s no guarantee that it wasn’t a Brown Recluse, but in NC they are not that common.

If I didn't, I do know what state (mentally of physically) I would be in. I do know that if I keep jumping outta bed and ripping all the blankets off, 20 times a night.. my husband is gonna ship me right back where I came from!!!!!

OMG! I may have to reconsider our upcoming move to Charlotte! I was so thrilled to be leaving behind all of California's black widow spiders, tarantulas and rattlesnakes! Now I read this! YIKES! Good luck to you!

it is very rare for brown recluse to be indoors a home. Besides normal extermination I would check for cracks or vents into the home especially from the basement or craw space a place they like to live but more common to be found outside around wood.

If you use a wood fireplace it good to bounce the wood for burning on the ground to try shake off any free riders. Wood is common place for brown recluse living enviroment so they can feed off other bottom feeders. They like dark moist enviroments.

We do not know the OP living enviroment to what subjected her to this aledge bite but the likely hood for the brown recluse to be indoors a home is rare.
