Default Car inspection

This is probably one of those questions that have been asked a million times, but I did a search on previous post and I could not find an answer. So here it goes, where do I need to take my car for the inspection once it is registered? Midas? Pepboys? any mechanic? are there specific places where I should take it? I do know that it cost $30. Thanks!

There are lots of places around Charlotte that can do inspections. I thought it was specific locations too, turns out not. At the link below you can search by county or city. Should be plenty of options.

I just moved to NC, too. I'm preparing to get my NC drivers license and tag next week. Does the car have to be inspected prior to applying for a NC tag?
