Thanks Markh...I can deal with the bugs outside, I was just concerned about whether or not the system really was effective. I had never heard of anything like it before. I'm sure I'll be happy with it after hearing back from people who use it. We use a system up hear in NY for termites (which we had had problems with). They placed about 15 tubes (stations) around the perimeter of our house, they check them quarterly to see if there is activity and, if so, they re-treat that area. It's worked great for us so far as we've have no further problems.

That same system for termites, is also in Florida. The in wall system is not for termites.

I have to admit, I can't wait to move down, but those posts really were creepy! Thanks for any info!
In my experience the service is only as good as the company in your area. We finally stopped the service because of unsatisfactory service. These "service area applicators" show up whenever they want and only service what they want, then they leave a bill taped to your front door and who knows if they even serviced your house?? Plus if theres noone home to let them in the garage ,house and to unlock a locked back gate to your backyard then how can they treat your backyard?? We called and complained many times to have them call us the day before arriving to make sure someone would be home before coming over to service our home. The "service remained the same(terrible) so we had the service discontinued due to having too many bills taped to the front door without any proof that the serviceman even applicated the "tubes in the walls",let alone the front or the back of the house. HomeTeam Pest Defence was the worst extermination company weve ever used.

We just had our house serviced today by HomeTeam. They did the tube thing and the perimeter of the house. Three months ago I called their office to find out when our guy was to treat the house since it was about a week after it was due. They told me that the house was treated and they tried to call me the day before the service but the phone number was wrong?? We never received the paperwork that is usually left behind after a treatment. They did call me yesterday regarding the appointment today. Anyway, over the last three months I have been killing spiders both small and large all over the house on a DAILY basis. I now wonder if I did get the treatment of three months ago. I will see how the spider situation is over the next few months and see what options to take.

We have Hometeam (after the springtail infestation) and we still see the 1 or 2 bugs around, but it has gotten rid of the springtails. We do have spiders in the grass and the treatments don't seem to help there as much. One after effect that I dislike are seeing the dead insects on the patio porch. Oh well... I guess. If we didn't have all the springtail issues I wouldn't have gotten the pest defense.

just an fyi but we didn't get the pest treatment and haven't seen the springtails in weeks, luckily they never were an issue inside the house so they never bothered us that much. I think it's just too hot & dry for them.

The home builder was bought out by Orkin??? Try posting some proof of what you post. I'll check back in a month, maybe.

I think he meant Centex is no longer in the pest control business. Orkin probably purchased Centex accounts and equipment(pest control).

While I have no "proof", I was told by a Centex manager that Orkin was looking into purchasing Centex accounts, but he said Orkin would still service the built-in systems. That was in 2006.
