You don't have to be the best swimmer to enjoy scuba diving, but it certainly helps to be a confidant diver. What type of diving are you looking to do? Greater Charlotte has one primary dive spot: Lake Norman Quarry: Lake Norman Quarry. It's not for everyone, as it is cold water diving and visibility can be poor.

You really do not need to know how to swim.

I've had my PADI certification since 1985. I have dove NY, NJ, Pa, FLa, Cozumel, Antigua and Hawaii. I moved to this area about five years ago now and I never inquired about dive operations around here. Even though visibility will probably be pretty crappy, I will look into diving Lake Norman, thanks to you.

I whole heartedly encourage you to pursue diving. It is really an incredible experience.

Good luck!
