Small and midsize banks in the Charlotte area are facing a talent shortage when it comes to filling positions such as commercial lenders and credit analysts.
Partly because graduating college students are worried about job security in banking since the financial crisis shook the industry.

According to the latest federal data, the sector employed 61,834 in Mecklenburg County as of March, down from the pre-recession high of 67,600 in December 2006.

Queens University of Charlotte has sensed opportunity amid the hiring woes of small banks.
The school is launching an undergraduate banking program to prepare students for jobs in the industry and provide them with internships.

I saw that article. Not sure what they are talking about. I work in a TBTF bank and we are laying off people like running water. To be sure, many of the people that are leaving voluntarily, are leaving for some of these smaller banks, but, there should be enough run off to staff any/all of the job openings that the "smaller banks" have.

Maybe they just don't want to pay enough to attract these people??
