I love your story it inspires me to make this decision and leaving my family and friends isnt easy...May I ask where did u wind up? what area of NC??? and I hate to ask but could tell me what your property taxes are? we have been researching Union County...we have gone back and fourth with NC for quiet some time now and Im ready to make that visit..I guess its easier when you find people that are recenly there from whre you are originally from..we are from NY and came to NJ like everyone else and well cost of living is INSANE and our housing and property taxes are just Ridiculous....any input would be great..

Love these boards

NjMom I love your post...very inspiring for other people that are looking to relocate like myself and my hubby and kids..WE are looking in the Union County and I have to say im very nervous. WE are originally from NY and now live in jersey for the past 7 yrs Ocean County and well financially we just cant do it anymore...All your input would be great...Where did u decide to buy? and if I may ask how much are your property taxes in NC? you can PM me, I would love to talk..I like that there is hope to meet other people who are coming from ny or nj just because for us we are leaving behind family and friends and hope that if we decide to this it will be the right thing..My parents arent supportive and feel we will be taking their children away from them....I am really enjoying these boards with great resources it nice to know Im not alone...I have 2 children my son brandon will be 12 in april and my daughter Sydney will be 8 in March....

Thanks
Staci

My husband works for a bank that is HQ'ed in Charlotte and he could get transferred easily. So, we are considering relocating to NC.

Originally, we were thinking the Lake Norman area (Mooresville, Cornelius, Huntersville) but a friend of a friend said Union County is the way to go.

What are the pros and cons of these areas?
Which towns have the best schools?

I would prefer a family friendly subdivision with pool, tennis courts and golf course. Any suggestions?

I would like an area close to good shopping and restaurants too.

Thanks for all your help!!!

We are moving from huntersville NC this state sucks bad idea moving down here
