I bet those very same people are in the very same areas or even (gasp) different parts of town just waiting to attack you as well. Not everyone who is a prostitute or pimp is looking for someone to attack. That is just a ridiculous notion and you could get car jacked at noon in front of the police station by someone who is NOT a prostitute, pimp or gang member.
You might feel safer back in Texas.

Sadly, I've seen that just a few folks in this forum willing to answer a simple question without moralizing or minding other people's business.

Don't forget he posted that his license is suspended but he has the right to drive and how dare we question him on that. We are a city that cares, but to him it's judgey. Strangely I'm okay with that.

I'm beginning to understand why he thinks he may be attacked
As a native to Charlotte I recall the day when no man driving a car on west trade street after 10pm could avoid several street walkers there giving you the eyeball and quickly hollering out "do you want a date" if you made eye contact for more than a microsecond . Times have changed in the past 25 years. That area around johnson and Wells still has allot of "action" .I suggest the OP take a nice walk around the area this friday night about 1130 pm.

Exactly, all across the country, the Internet/Craigslist has taken a lot of street walkers off the streets, and because they don't get the exercise they used to get, walking-walking, running from the vice squad and crazy Johns, they're also getting fatter/lazier, as a result of it!
And I sure hope you're all smart enough, when you see an ad on Craigslist, under Therapeutic massage, that states Non-Sexual Massage Only, that many of these Massage Therapists learned something from Clinton: I didn't do IT! or I don't do IT or What is IT?

Structured crime died out in Charlotte and surrounding areas in the late nineties. Unless you're talking about the gated community kids who sale drugs they buy with their parents money, or the escorts all the church going soccer dads in the new developments go to at the hotels..
You're actually more likely to get arrested for a crime in one of the new developments than in some drug infested project. If you drive a car that isn't new enough and leave it parked outside, or let a limb on a tree grow too long, you can literally be criminally charged in most of these "safe neighborhoods" full of "intelligent" and "friendly" people..
