I find this not only odd, but also disrespectful to the Jewish community.
Having at ANTI Israeli Parade would be disrespectful to the Jewish Community. To the OP, Charlotte is not NYC. As a New York Jewish guy who is considering a move to Charlotte, a Salute to Israel Parade wouldn't even make the top 200 of things that are important to me for a possible relocation. Decent, respectful people are my number one priority and after a brief trip to Charlotte, and interacting with the local folks, I am confident that the majority fill the bill.
My question is why would non-Israelis start an Israelian parade?
For a city as image-conscious as we are About being in the big leagues, the Charlotte community would embrace an Israelian parade (as we do all others). It shows we have diversity and it should be a fun event.
But again....
Israelis should organize it... We just don't have a large enough Jewish community (which as a city, we would love that sort of diversity).
So it's not a lack of disrespect, but a lack of Israelian influence, culture & people.
I don't think there would be much call for a Zionist parade in Charlotte. Unlike NYC, NC is mostly Protestant. I'm sure a permit would be granted for such a thing, if some people wanted to fund and organize it, but I think they might be better off having a cook out or something at a local park.
I'm Jewish too. You sound extremely selfish & self-centered! Lots of people have endured persecution. How much have you personally endured? What makes you so special above all other people?

Charlotte is on the verge of losing its very successful, very large, Thanksgiving parade due to lack of sponsorship. We need another parade? You want a parade, start a parade, but don't complain about others not putting on the parade that you want.

Is it very successful if we're on the verge of losing it? But what a brilliant idea. Get the State of Israel to sponsor the Thanksgiving parade and they can co-opt. The NY one is in the Spring so it makes sense that they'd want one in the Fall.
Considering that the american tax payers have been giving them billions of dollars every year for many years (and it isnt being paid back) I think WE need the parade.

It's called Purim.
