As a Jew, I DO think that other faiths recognize us, both in a positive AND a negative way. Because Charlotte has a relatively small Jewish population, I do not see a big deal in the fact that there is no salute to Israel Parade there. There is nothing wrong with religious or ethnic pride but imho, there is no need to wear it on your sleeve in public. In this age of political correctness it is trendy for every group to want "its day in the sun". The best way to be recognized in a positive way is to do good for your community, be a good person and not be so darn sensitive.

Wow.. U r a great representative of your faith. I hope other Jews step up here.

Did you personally endure the persecution ? If not you have no right to demand respect. (respect is earned never demanded... You have the example of a gentleman who demanded and got plenty at the cost of millions of human life).

Bless your heart. You are not from around here, are you? If you want to have a parade, organize it. Check with the Temples and Rabbis in town and get to work. I have many friends and colleagues who are Jews and I will pass this on to them in an email. I am sure they will get a chuckle.

You have your knickers in a wad because Charlotte does not have a parade, but have you checked to see if Washington, D.C., or Atlanta, or Detroit, or Chicago, or L.A. or Seattle, or Philly, or Dallas, or Skokie....or, or....I could go on....have a parade?

Footnote: I am Christian, and very pro Israel, unlike some who reportedly lead this country. Then, that's another discussion. I recognize your faith and respect everything it stands for. All of us will stand before one God when it's all over, so getting wrapped around the axle over Charlotte not having a parade is beyond puzzling when one considers the issues facing this city, county, state, and country.

You need to take a deep breathe and get to work organizing your parade.

OP,

Contact Temple Beth El in Charlotte, they will be able to give you a list of events. I understand the community is pretty active. Pay no mind to the ugly and hatefulness here towards religion (and other topics from time to time). Good luck.

Why does someone asking for a parade for themselves sound an awful lot like retired cops that come in here to tell us they are heroes?

Yeah, so have a lot of other religions and you don't see them whining about not having a Salute John The Baptist Parade.

If you want to have your own parade pay for the permit to have it, make all the arrangements and go for it, otherwise move to Israel and see how far your parade goes.

So if not having this parade is disrespectful to the Jewish people, does that mean we have to have a parade for all the other religions, too?

I would contact the JCC here and organize a parade. You organize an event, people will come. It's that simple. Lack of one doesn't mean a thing. In fact now that I think about it, we don't have parades for Christians or for Rome or for Jerusalem....
