Not only is NC not a union state, what passes as tenure here is called career status. All is basically guarantees is that a teacher is entitled to a hearing b/4 being canned. This past summer, the legislature passed a law abolishing career status for EVERYONE beginning in 2018.

So even cops aren't unionized? Personally, I am anti-union. They nearly bankrupted the US auto and aviation industries, and they break taxpayers backs in places like NY and Ma.

But it helps to make career choices so much easier. What should I be ... cop, teacher or Wal-Mart greeter?

Teachers deserve the money. They require a college degree and teach our kids.

Cops do not merit high pay. Obviously, they play an important role, but so do garbage men, truckers, etc.
