Try doing that on a Friday afternoon The problem is actually getting down I85 to the 321 exit. Yes, when things go well you can make it, but every time I have had to do it there is some accident that has us sitting for awhile burning our daylight Suffice it to say, there is HEAVY traffic going toward Gastonia, but especially on a Friday afternoon. If you already live north of Charlotte, say in Davidson or Mooresville even, getting up I77 to take 421 is much easier - plus it's a better less congested drive to Boone (though I do love 321 for the windy, twisty mountain road!!)

And where are you getting on I485 that you can be in Banner Elk in under 2 hours???? From south Charlotte Boone alone is 2 hours.

Default Berewick is for you!

I'd encourage you to visit Berewick in Southwest Charlotte. If you decide you like it, I own a 2500SQFT house on a large cul-de-sac lot with tons of upgrades that has never been lived in. I bought it when I worked for the builder and I need to sell it.
Just a thought.
Best of luck in the move.

Wow - found exactly what I was looking for in Baxter Village - Fort Mill. What a cool community - it's about 100k more than I was planning on spending, but it will be absolutely perfect for the kids and helping them cope with the transition.
