Hey everyone I'm kind of new to the forum. I 'lurk' from time to time but hadn't registered a username until just recently.

Anyway, I've been living here for two years now and just bought a used car from a dealer last summer.

I'm curious if anybody has ever had a discrepancy on their renewal notice they received in the mail compared to their original registration card

I had my car inspected on Thursday and tired to renew online. When I did, I noticed that the Title # on the renewal notice was different from the Title # on my original registration card from when the dealer had the car registered last July of 2012.

I assume they should be the same unless it was some kind of temporary title # they issued or maybe it was the old title # from the previous owner or something before everything was put into my name?

If anyone could provide any info to clear this up before I send the renewal payment out i'd feel a lot better about it..

Thanks

Only thing I can think of other than human error is that the car was re-titled from a salvage title. I think as long as the VIN is the same, you are good to go. Unless the car has hidden damage that the dealer didn't disclose. Read more below.
