I had to do it this morning. Anyone who does this every day has got to be insane.

That is all.

LOL I feel the same way anytime I have to go out that way during commuting times. HORRIBLE.

I take Independence from Albermarle Road/Executive Center Drive. I get uptown in about 15 - 20 minutes. It is crazy, but at times, I take Central to get uptown. The commute is about equal time. It really all depends on the time of day you are traveling. Today is rainy; it will always be crazier in bad weather.

I hate driving on 74. I will take all possible routes to avoid it. But I'm not a fan of driving so I'm biased.

I have to do it every day and it has defiinitely gotten worse in the last few years. Especially this year, it seems like they changed the timing of the lights where Idlewild crosses because it is much more backed up earlier in the AM than it used to be.

The thing that really is frustrating is that once you get on the expressway, all the backup is mostly due to crappy driving. Too many people don't merge properly from Albermarle and Eastway. Also, too many people wait until the last minute to jump over to get off on 277 South.

I tried commuting via Independence once. Never again. Traffic is one thing, but crazy driving is totally something else.

I've taken Central from Albermarle several times and it seems longer to me. The best alternate route that I have found is getting off 74 at Eastway and going down through Plaza Midwood then getting on Central near 7th Street. That route has a lot of stop signs and goes through a residential neighborhod, but it is faster when there is an accident or someone has decided to play real life *******.

There really is no "good" alternate route since they are all about the same. If you go up Monroe to 7th, you are dealing with lots of traffic lights. If you go 485 to 77 (which I know some people do and I think is even crazier) you have congestion where you get on 77.

I sat in traffic from Harris Blvd to 277... Took 40 minutes starting at 7:40!! Wow.

I live about three miles from uptown and spoiled by my commute, but I honestly don't know how you guys do it twice a day every day. Y'all need to carpool!

I've tried to find carpoolers in my area several times and have never been able to. The few times I have found someone who was interested, their schedule didn't match up to mine and I have no flexibility.

I work with a few people who live in my area and even tried to get one of those CATS vanpool deals going, but right around the time I was going to get it started they started telecommuting. My job is very hands on so I'm pretty much stuck coming in every day. Out of an office of over 600 employees I am one of 6 people who have to be in the office every single day.

I used to take Independence but it was too frustrating... most of the traffic is due to poor driving.
