Yeah, I always try to suggest that folks traveling to CLT avoid Epicentre - it's super clubby and there are tons of higher quality bars/restaurants all over Uptown, South End, and Plaza Midwood that are cooler and more representative of what CLT has to offer. It's hard to convince people of that, though, since people who aren't familiar with the city always hear that Epicentre is the best spot for nightlife. It drives me crazy bc I want tourists to have a better impression of the city than what they'll get there!

Oh Epicenter was perfectly fine. It was Thirsty Thursday so it was a lot of business people after work and music. We were there around 6:00 so it wasn't a wild scene or anything. I told my husband "A young man could think he was falling in love at the Epicenter." Lots of pretty young ladies dressed to impress to say the least. We literally just walked around, people watched and went back to the hotel for sushi. My sons pointed out how the most attractive scantily clad girl was making the most tips by selling beer and flirting-guys would stand in line waiting to deal with her while the male bartenders just stood there. We told them to learn from that observation. :-) It was different than any venue we have around here in MA so it was interesting to us. It seems like young people could have a good time after work there.

gotcha... That sounds exactly like a Epicenter scene. I believe you captured that environment to the fullest. lol Glad you enjoyed yourself here. When you come back, try to stop by Prices Chicken Coop. Really awesome chicken.

One of the valets at our hotel mentioned Price's Chicken Coop after we told them we ate at Mert's. He was surprised that we didn't opt to go out to a steak house or other chain as many visitors do. Mert's was hopping and we loved the vibe but we will try the Coop next visit.
