I currently live in Southern NJ, but am seriously thinking of relocating to South Carolina. Recently visited there for a graduation last month & fell in love!
I have two daughters - One typically developing 15yr old soon to be high school sophomore - very athletic; track & cheer, and my 10 yr old lovey-love with Down Syndrome. With both girls its all about the school district;for the 10 yr old w/ DS its about where her needs would be best met as well as where she would thrive. For the High school-er - good/great athletic program, and acadmics. For me it would be about family friendly neighborhood, convenient shopping, entertainment, eating out, cultural activities...
Would appreciate some insight and or suggestions on where to begin, who to contact, etc.
That area, Indian Land is just before and East of Fort Mill. It's a beautiful area that is being fast developed and close to Charlotte. The schools there are excellent as well. I don't know specifically the track/cheer but again you can use that link above to navigate to the High school and check out their site. Good luck!

Don't think of St. John's. This is quite different. (I came here from South Jersey.) They run 2 sheltered workshops in downtown Belmont. One is a cafe & the other is a candy shop.
This is a geographically large area. Where you live would depend to a degree on where your job is & your commute tolerance.
I dont know of a Charlotte located in SOUTH CAROLINA... Just where is it located?
I think there would be more traffic to those forums if they put Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Indian Land etc instead of York and Lancaster county.
OP-Check out that forum back on the main index of forums page. You might get more info there as well.
