I have not been to the room in Charlotte where new citizens of the United States are sworn in. I know from photos and video that there are plenty of American flags in that room and each new citizen has a mini one they hold during the ceremony.
But I have seen photos and video of people that get their photo taken with the flags for a souvenir. This photo is likely the one that will be most remembered and passed around.
The "national" flag used for the photos is that of Homeland Security. The other one is for the State.
Does anyone find this odd? Has anyone witnessed this in person?
It's minor but it bugs me. I can't find any photos or video that don't involve identifying people so I'm not providing links but it's pretty easy to find on images.google.com.
Let me say also that it's possible that this is not an "official" areas to get a photo taken. The US flag just might be out of sight. So I'm kind wondering what other people may have seen.
there were no mini flags to hold, at least not in the Charlotte court house. there was only one flag as far as I can remember, and it was the American flag, posted behind the judge on the stage, the judge himself was good half-hour late. that was in the George W Bush time though...might have changed now
It looks like there is a flag on both sides of a stage of one being the US flag. So they aren't dissing it and I asked someone who was there last week and they said the area with the departmental flag isn't an official area for photographs but a lot of people were using it. Maybe they should swap the US flag and DHS flag but I don't think they are trying to use it the way it first looked to me.
I don't think that's logical. The stars represent the original and not the current.
Huh? 50 stars for 50 states. Once we pick up more states, there will be more stars. How is that not logical and how does that not reflect the current?
