Has a Charlotte to Myrtle Beach expressway ever been considered? (Wilmington: construction, live)

I'm a map enthusiast, and noticed there is no rapid road access from Charlotte to Myrtle Beach, SC, which suprised me under the assumption that people from the Charlotte metro routinely flock to MB for getaways being relatively close. Has a freeway (interstate or other) ever been proposed to link these two areas? I would think it would be a heavily traveled route if it did exist.
I-74 plans to connect to Myrtle Beach.
If they would work and complete the Monroe by pass then going to MB would be a breeze at least til Conway
Take I77 to I 20 if majority of interstate driving is needed but I find traveling and enjoying the back roads the fun part of the trip. Its not difficultFrom Hwy 74 in SC it's Hwy: 1-38-501.
As Sunny said, US 74 to I-74/73 is a planned route to Myrtle Beach. Here's a map to give you a clearer picture. Note that the blue lines are roads that are, or will be freeway standard:
Right now, the issue is upgrading US 74 between the Monroe Bypass, and where I-74/73 starts in Rockingham. There's also the issue of SC starting their stretch of I-73 to Myrtle Beach. At the earliest, I expect a direct route between Charlotte to Myrtle Beach at 2030, at the earliest.
Yeah don't expect it until 2030 maybe even 2040. Based off that map posted, I totally don't understand the reasoning for the proposed I-74 to continue east and curve away from Wilmington to meet up with I-73 again in Myrtle Beach. Seems like a total waste that I doubt many would even use. Definitely a road to nowhere.
Am I correct in assuming Myrtle Beach is the reasonably close getaway of choice for metro Charlotteans? When I lived in Atlanta eveyone went to Panama City, FL, and that was a lot more of a haul.
73 is really up in the air right now. 74 has made good progress. The Robeson County section really made a difference and DOT has constructed a few overpasses that has allowed speed limits to increase between the Robeson Co bypass and Wilmington. Construction is underway right now in two areas near Wilmington, one is the I-140 which will cut off Leland in going to the Brunswick Co beaches and the other is widening the area at Acme/Delco/Reigelwood which required you to slow down to 45 along 74. The Interchange at Highway 87 also seems be being adjusted.
The State of NC should (rightfully so) be concerned with 74 from Charlotte to Wilmington and not worry about Myrtle Beach access. Let SC figure that out. One day maybe NC will even build a rest area on 74, of which none is there now. For a 3 to 4 hour drive (depending on your starting point), it would be nice to have a place to go to the bathroom.

I haven't actually heard anyone mention myrtle beach here. Mainly it's the outer banks or Wilmington.
