Another recommendation for ABF trailers. A lot cheaper then PODS. No complaints with ABF, have used them twice and I know a few other people that were happy.

I agree with the U-Pack ABF trailers .........a 28'x9'x8' trailer was $1200 from NJ to Mooresville. A lot cheaper than PODS. If you go with ABF, try to get your move done early in the month. The pricing sometimes goes up $200-300 at the end of the month. SD

Breakdown of the pods industry
Hello,
Here, is a brief rundown of the pods industry:
PODS is the clear market leader as they are the most recognized company in this niche. They are also usually the most expensive of the pod companies. But, the design of their pods is top quality. They can hold up to all kinds of weather, mildew, etc. Their customer service seems to be hit or miss. You can ready reviews to help find out how good they are at customer service in your area.
U-Pack is a very good pod company. Its parent company is ABF, but this does not keep them from offering a good service. They tend to be cheaper than PODS and have seen only good customer reviews of them.
Door To Door is a newcomer that I am less familiar with. However, reading reviews, I know they are more cost competitive than PODS and seem to have pretty good customer service. Again, I would read reviews on other message boards for ideas of how good they are in your area.
Besides these three national ones, there are a slew of other companies as well. This will give you the option to shop around; however, it may be wiser to stick with these because they are a little more proven than these other companies.
Hope this helps,
Frank Miller

We just moved to CLT from Michigan and used SAM (Store And Move) they were less expensive than PODS - same concept. Nothing was broke or damaged in anyway. Just remember, the secrect is in the way that you load the SAM. We actually used heavy duty straps that you can buy at Home Depot for $25 bucks for a 4 pack that you can use to strap off the SAM in sections to eliminate shifting, which I highly recommend. Good luck!

One more vote for ABF. We used them to pack up our stuff in MD, had them store it for about 2 months, and then deliver to the house. No issues, right on time, no damage. The U-Pack cubes are about half the size of the PODS, so keep that in mind - but we got 2 ABF cubes for half the price of one PODS unit.

We also used getasam.com. The SAM was about half what we were quoted for a POD. Everything arrived in good condition and we were very pleased with them. I would use them again but hope I don't have to. I NEVER want to move again. Good luck on your move.

Agree, that ABF is a better alternative. We used the trailer when we moved from NY to NC. We will be gettingthe ABF relocubes for our move back up north. Very happy withthe service. havent heard a negative thing yet on them.

One more vote for ABF. Used them twice and have been very happy. Used the cubes to move from Dallas to LA and from LA to here. Only thing that was broken was our cheap shoe stand and nails from chairs were removed. However, remember that the way you pack is important in these do-it-yourself stuff. First time we moved, we had very little stuff and so had packed it a bit loosely and had resulted in a broken chair and shoe stand (our mistake). But i think that if had packed a little more tightly and securely, that could have been avoided. Best of luck.

I used PODS and ABF in the past. ABF was 1/2 the price and very good customer service. The driver arrived early and left the trailer overtime w/o charging me extra. I would definately recommend ABF!
