I used ABF moving cubes. It was the easiest move! We loaded them, they picked them up and delivered them. We didn't pay for the extra gurantee date, but they were right on time (actually early). The brought them to our apartment on the date/time designated. Not one thing was broken, dented, etc. I would highly recommend them!!!
We used ABF also - they were about half as much as the PODS were for our move from Cali to Charlotte - and I was totally happy. We only had one broken glass and one broken lightbulb!! And they arrived right on time.
We used them for our move from NY to Mooresville this past March. Nothing was damaged and the PODS were delivered on time. Would definitely use them again to move.
no complaints at all.
just realize you will wait a few days from pickup til dropoff at your new location, so we needed to make plans for 6 overnight stays waiting for our stuff. we thought worth it, but be aware of the potential for inconvenience.
I used PODS from CA to NC. Used one for de-cluttering the house before putting it up for sale. Then another one for the move. Both were shipped to Pineville and they were in storage there for a month while we closed on a house. Then we had them delivered one at a time two weeks apart. Nothing was broken or disturbed in either container.
I would definitely use them again.
My sister used five alcoholics and a truck, paid three times as much and had a bunch of stuff broken.
I used Pods for storage in CA then at it delievered and we loaded it into a 28ft ABF truck. Pods was alot more expensive than ABF. I had to get two pods just to move and it would have cost if I remember $6k. The ABF only cost $3500 from CA to NC. Then we hired movers to help unload.
We have used ABF for two big moves. Salt Lake to Rhode Island and RI to Charlotte. The first time we used the containers, the second time they were all reserved and we had to use their other option which is a tractor trailer (semi truck). Both options turned out to be great but the trailer cost about half as much as the container.
What they did was drop off the semi trailer at our apartment so that we could load our stuff. We packed it in and then put up a "bulk head" wall to separate our stuff from the remainder of the trailer. We only had to pay for the square footage that was behind the bulkhead. The rest of the trailer was used as freight (i.e. shoes, computers, etc.). That is why it was so cheap.
Nothing was broken, nothing was stolen, everything was how we had packed it.
I have never used a POD but I definitely reccomend either option of ABF over PODS for the cost alone. Plus they are very reliable and were always on time for delivery of the empty trailer or container, pick up, or drop off.
