I'm hoping to move to Charlotte for a job near the airport. I have a wife, 2 children, 1 on the way, and a house to sell in Illinois.

I need to find a temporary apartment until we sell our house and move my family.

I've found Huntersville Apartment Homes and was wondering if anyone can share experiences/reviews.
Huntersville - Apartments for rent in Huntersville

I'm looking at the 1br studio until we can buy a house.

Thanks,

This has come up before and it's always suggested to rent for a year. Would that be possible for you? It will be cheaper as well and gives you time to really look around and decide where to move to. I haven't heard of those places so I can't comment on that but Huntersville is a nice town. Will your commute be okay? It looks far on the map. (I am not familiar with Huntersville other than I have cousins that live there and like it)

There's also always extended stays - sometimes you can really get a good rate and there are some good ones in the CLT area. If that's something you'd consider, I'm sure you can get more specific suggestions here on CD. Otherwise, I concur with folks who say to rent first. It will be less of a headache - even if it's for less than a year lease.

Thank you for your input. Depending on how quickly our house in Illinois would sell, I certainly could see the need to rent for a year. However, if it sells quickly, then we'd want to get into a house asap, especially with 3 kids and a dog that will move after the sell.

It looks like the commute will be around 30 minutes from Huntersville. I'm okay with that. I currently commute 20 to get to work, so an extra 10 minutes isn't' a big deal.

Thanks again!

Strawberry Hill Apartments. Right out the road from the airport (Fairview Rd). They have a couple of buildings that will be demo'ed next year to expand the shopping center and are only doing short term leases in those. They do short term leases (3 months) without killing you on price and then you can go month to month for like $50/month more.

This is exactly what I am doing in right now. We sold our house very quickly but didn't find a place to buy until recently. We signed a 3 month lease in a 2BR townhouse for $1135/m. The units are not "updated" since they are tearing them down, but I have zero complaints. Not sure of current availability but I know we will be moving out Sept 30th.
