The NC Dept of Environment and Natural Resources has 134 companies enrolled in an environmental stewardship program. Firestone was one of 17 companies to be awarded for their efforts to be green.

This is one of those topics that makes good read but not great thread discussion.
Tire Company that environmental Ill have to keep them in mind next time I need tires.

Thing is this is probably strategic PR in an effort to recover it's name. Remember when Firestone tires were exploding all over the place not too long ago and the companies worth tanked?

Also the green movement is mostly marketing, where is the data showing a reduction in carbon footprint? Even better, where is the inefficient and correlation data showing they didn't just burn books?

I'm not trying to shoot down a company, especially an American one, but if the data is fake then there is no progress or productivity and it's just putting another nail in the casket of an already dieing economy, on top of having no positive change on the ecosystem material sciences depend on for mining..

The article cited the difference in utility usage. While they didn't publish it, that was a factor in the award.

I still don't see how this conflicts with my post which is in regard to the same company and analyzing the actions clearly described in the article(s).
