Hello everyone.
Does anyone know if the real estate market is doing good right now in the Charlotte area?

Real estate in Charlotte is still in good shape. The only problem seems to be a bit of a slow down in days homes are taking to close. This is because of the folks coming from other markets that had a bubble burst and now can't sell their homes. Most can't buy here until they sell "there". There are some good deals to be found because of this. For instance, sellers who HAVE to sell (job transfers ect) are reducing prices a little bit in order to sell and just move on. But I am observing that sellers who don't have to sell are just willing to sit on their asking prices a while. Find one of those sellers who as got to sell and you might get lucky

Oh, and as you can imagine, the homes $350 and up are the ones moving slower (as that is the price range most transplants tend to buy in, but only when they sell their home whereever they are coming from first. Since many of those aren't selling in major markets around the country you can see why that would cause our slow down). If you are looking to buy in that price range you will surely find a deal.

The market here is still doing pretty well over all. the nice thing about the market here is when the housing slows the rental market increases.

yeah, I was just down to Mooresville this past weekend... We want to rent to start off the relo and finding that the rental market is heating up with a huge supply of sales listings.

It's a shame that we're committed to renting since you can get some steals on a buy... but it is what it is. =P
