hmm 1500 room hotel, 400 more than cherokee. Like I said in previous posts this casino will be huge, and be geared to hard core gamblers staying for 2 to 3 days, and dropping serious change.

Attorneys for South Carolina-based Catawba Indian Nation say the tribe doesn't need support from the state of North Carolina to operate a proposed casino and resort in Cleveland County. The tribe is citing a 1993 agreement with the federal government that exempts it from needing state approval for Class 3 gaming. It would still need federal approval, and filed an application with the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs earlier this month.

I'm surprised that it took the Observer this long to pick up on Tim Moore. He was named by the Shelby Star & he stated what is in this article in an article in the Kings Mountain Herald last month.

I'm also surprised that they did not pick up the list of legislators who are opposing this who took funds from the Cherokee that was published in the Shelby Star.

Who knows, maybe short on staff at CO . I receive daily new stories off this site around the state, and it odd they didnt post original out of Shelby Star, as they have in past.

When this gets the ok, I wonder if politicians will flip flop or and do nothing to help like road expansion etc.

Part of the cited cost is road improvements. They intend to pay for those. The surveyors were on I 85, Dixon School Road, & Kings Mountain Blvd. I saw the surveyors between Exit 5 & exit 8 and between exit 4 & exit 5.

I had posted a thread on the state board concerning the Cherokee money, so I'm pretty sure that I posted a link to that story there.

Apparently the treaty includes mention of Rutherford, Cleveland, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, & Union Counties, because tribe members live in those counties & were in those counties at the time of the treaty.

There's a new article in the Shelby Star. Pat McCrory is going to Shelby tomorrow. This could be interesting.

If u read between the lines it sounds like to me this is going to happen. The state reps are saying they are against it, but then say its a federal issue. Sounds like they been paid off. They get to tell there constituents I was against this, but there was nothing I could do. You and I both know they could pass some sort of bill and fight it in court for years. This could b interesting to watch for sure.
