moving for a job, going to rent for a bit. looking for info on best areas for low crime, peacefulness. I prefer to be away from the city, but not too far from the lake. Concord? Denver? Mooresville, Huntersville? Troutman? Thanks in advance, CR

The west side of the lake is less developed. There are services at 73 and 16 (Lowes, Wal*Mart, grocers, etc.)

Concord is very suburban and likely more affordable than most areas of Huntersville / Mooresville. It has a great downtown, which is a nice counterpoint to the chain-stores on its southern border (which can be good if you need a run to Target). Plus, even though you don't want to live in the city, it's proximity to Charlotte allows you to take advantage of the larger city's resources pretty easily/regularly. Low crime, lots of really lovely parks and greenways, and festivals that have a small-town feel. I'd check it out.

Try Lake Wylie instead of Lake Norman. The Sanctuary is a very upscale neighborhood. Very quick to downtown.
