Default Forest Hills area--Gastonia

Does anyone live in the Forest Hills area of Gastonia? This is the area immediately south/southeast of York-Chester historic district.

I saw a very nice home for sale there, and was curious what you thought of the area, and any good/bad comments you can make about the neighborhood.

I grew up in the York Chester historic district and my parents just sold a house there recently. It's a fine area, but all four sides of it are bad, crime-ridden ghettos. So, it's got a fair amount of crime from passers-by. I came home to visit from college last year and I was in town for four days and had my car broken into and all sorts of things stolen out of it (nothing of value as I don't keep valuable things in there, but the idiot took my car registration, my loose change and my skateboard).

OK, I just have to say that the above post is completely WRONG! I am a Gastonia native and I have lived in Forest Hills for the last 10 years. It is one of the most charming neighborhoods in the city. Crime ridden ghettos?! Please. True there are lower income housing near some of the york chester streets but not Forest Hills. Forest Hills is tucked away in it's own little area. There are an abundance of families in this area and is a great place for children to play. The houses in Forest Hills have incredible histories and are truly Gastonia's gems. We love new neighbors!
