I have been living in denial about moving until today. We just got back from the pool and all I kept thinking was that there will be no more trips to the pool in November once we move. I am sure I will be very happy in Charlotte but I am going to miss Orange County sooooo much.
Oh, you can still make trips to a pool, it just won't likely be an outdoor one! Things are very fall-like here today, so that should give you something to look forward to, even if it's not quite what you are used to. I hope you will enjoy Charlotte!
Having moved around alot, I know the feeling. I moved from San Diego to the Carolinas so I can relate. There will definitely be plenty of things you'll miss so try not to dwell on them. Focus on the good things about Charlotte and life on the east coast.
We are moving because my husband got a job where he won't have to travel every week. It is bittersweet because we truly love where we live but it will be great to have him home.

I am sure like any of us from San Diego he misses Rubio's Fish Taco, these isn't here like it! But we did find a great place for Mexican Food! That was a big life saver
OCtoCLT - It's a slippery slope to talk about what I miss about So. Cal., but since you asked - I miss driving along the PCH, sunset in La Jolla, Balboa park, the globe theater, pacific standard time (the football games are on earlier), dog beach, the view from top of one of the Mts, snorkeling with sharks, overall being close to the water, good Mexican food, casinos being close by, the weather and bunch of other things.
It's only fair to mention some of Charlotte's good points. Having four seasons is fun (and it's mild here so you don't have to deal with shoveling snow), the proximity to the Mountains is great for hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, etc., traffic is getting worse but it's nothing like the 5, 15 or 8, friendly people, the coast is nearby (Charleston, SC is fun and only about 3 hours away), generally the costs are lower, the theater has good "broadway" shows, being on the east coast makes trips to Europe quicker and easier - and a bunch of other things.
Hope that helps - it will be an adjustment. That's great news about your husband - perhaps, now that you'll have time with him, you can start planning things in and around Charlotte for both of you to do. Might ease the transition.

Yes I do and I LOVE it. I live in the area that the new housewife lives and that Laurie owns her condo. I am so happy that it is on tv so I can get my OC fix.
I am happy about no earthquakes...they freak me out. All the things to miss about this area made me sad but all the good things about Charlotte have crossed my mind. I am excited about shorter trips to Europe and exploring a new area.
Where is good mexican food? We just had Rubio's last night and I am going to miss it. All the Cali people should get together and open a franchise.
