Apparently her net worth is about $8M. I'm not sure if she's jumping at every opportunity to play gigs for $33K.

33K for how probably one hour... in a park? Easy money...

She didn't make $8 mill by not jumping at these opportunities.

I don't think we should question the money spent on a performer so much as the overall expenses. They could have gotten a local choir to sing for free, lol. The point is - a big party to celebrate the opening of a park was decided upon and the expenses were evidently planned for in the budget. That is where the questions should be . . . why, in a time of austerity, would the city find it appropriate to spend that much money on a park "unveiling" . . . it just looks like an excuse for a hoo-ha for city officials.

That $$$ could have gone a long way with employing some folks, for example.

It did employ people - caterers, stagehands, etc.

And so it did.

However, with people having been laid off and no raises for others, I was asking about people employed by government entities and whose salaries depend on tax dollars in a budget.

The money paid for the entertainment, alone, is the same as a teacher's salary for the year.
