I think I've done this a few years ago, but I want to put in a plug for the Conversation Hours at the International House on Central Avenue in Plaza Midwood. It's in the back of the old Midwood school right behind Book Buyers. They offer very informal groups to either get together with other native speakers or improve conversational skills in the language. Each one has a native speaker volunteer to lead the discussion. My group - French - is a lot of fun with several native speaker members. Also offered is German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese,Portuguese, Russian and English. The last one attract lots of interesting new immigrants from all over. You don't have to be a good speaker - some people come mostly to listen.
Here is the schedule:

That is such a fantastic idea! Is it somewhat kids friendly? Thinking older kids of course that can sit quietly/listen/interact appropriately.

(and if it isn't, I sure as heck not going to be offended that I can't bring preshus. lol)
