Hello
I am an international student who is moving to Charlotte in 3 weeks. I will be attending CPCC (harris campus) which is close to Douglas Airport. I have never visited NC before, so I have no clue, as to what areas are safe and those that are not. Are there any safe, reasonably priced, apartments close to this campus? I am looking for shared living accomodations.

Your best bet is looking in the Steele Creek area. It's a short drive to the Harris campus. Most apts in this area start around $700 a month for a 1 bedroom. As for shared living accomadations, if you don't mind driving you should consider renting in the University area. There are a lot of student apartments around the UNC Charlotte campus. Most people living there expect to have roommates.

I also suggest contacting the campus directly to find out if they have someone on staff who can help you find an apartment or a roommate. At the very least, perhaps they can point you toward an apartment complex near the campus that will fit your needs.

You can find out what crimes have been reported and committed by address in Charlotte by visiting Community Crime Information System. This will at least tell you if an area is safer than another.
