I've watched many, many mantis egg nests. They don't need our help.

This looks to be a Chinese praying mantis which are not native to the US and KILL monarch caterpillars, bees and monarch butterflies...amongst other beautiful things....Why the praying mantis in your garden may not be your friend | Reading Eagle - BERKSCOUNTRY

Don't kill them. What if something killed us because we eat pigs, bulls, chickens, etc. Maybe god is killing us with earthquakes, hurricanes, lightening, and English food? I don't necessarily like praying mantis but I respect their position in the food chain. Thank god we are on top just below Jeffery Dahmer.

I imagine whatever that critter was it's gone on to the great beyond now since this thread is from 2013.
