Are you saying I should pay more?

I could have done it myself in half that time. I'm not paying for time, I'm paying for the job.

I think you paid them fairly for neighborhood kids! Truly, it gave them some fast $$ and a sense of earning something for some equally hard work...something kids never do anymore.

I use the leaf blower to get the majority into the woods/natural areas and then mow over the rest and let them get good and mulched up. If the leaves are really bad, I'll use a yard vac. My new house has me thinking about getting a Billy Goat vac. Lots more trees than where I used to be.

We had an acre with around 200 trees. 1/3 acre lawn-rest was woodland and borders/planted areas.
At first we tried raking and a small electric blower and it was a nightmare. We're not inside city limits so can't put leaves at curb- we'd have far too many anyway!
Last 2 years we had a powerful (Husqy) gas blower.Cost $300 but sooooo worth it.
Mostly we blew into the woodland areas and end up with leaves piled around 3ft high, but over the winter they soon reduce down. Sometimes have to blow onto a tarp and carry into woodland as takes too long to blow from far side of lawn into woodland when leaves are thick.
