Hi all! I'm a recent college grad currently living in Charlotte. I decided to spend my first year living at home (hooray for free rent!) and am looking to move out this coming August (2008). I know the areas and price ranges I want, my problem is just trying to figure out how to go about finding a rental! I've been looking on craigslist and similar sites, but everything is listed for now.

I guess I'm used to a college town where EVERYTHING is rented by the school year and all the good places are lined up 6 months before. So I'm not quite sure how to navigate the market here. I'd really like to get a place lined up before the summer, because I'm working in the mountains for June and July, but is that even a possibility?

Thanks!

we locked in our apartment about 2 months before we moved here in july 2006. we are renting in ballantyne. but we rent at an apartment complex. are you looking for a house to rent? i don't know how early you can do that. complexes you can check out now and have a few places in mind before you sign anything a couple months before august. good luck in your search.

yeah, that's my issue. i'd much rather have a house and/or townhome than apartment. the idea of people living on all sides of me slightly creeps me out
