Actually, WCNC right now predicts highs in the 60's early in the week with lows in the 50s, but cold will return later in week with highs in the 40s. Longrange computer models indicate a cold Thanksgiving.
Agreed. Where I was working Tuesday evening saw no snow sticking on the ground. I'll make sure to wear a heavier weight of long underwear when I return to work on Friday evening. If you're looking for warm year round try south Florida.
There can be some pretty cold mornings but usually once the sun comes up the average is in the 50's or so during the day during the winter months (Dec,Jan,Feb). The normal for now is a high in the low 60's and low of around 40.
Also, moving beyond just the temperature the winters here are shorter and not even as close to being as brutal as MA. I remember the wind chill along with the snow and slush there....yuck! If it snows it will normally melt once the sun is up so it doesn't last. And its not gray and depressing for months. Love these Carolina blue skies! So yes, a cold front can certainly move through but the winter here is far superior to MA in my opinion. Since moving here I have retired my heavy winter coat and no longer own a shovel.
The temperatures in winter can really vary too...it can be in the 40's, 50's, 60's or 70's on any given day! If you google the weather history (wunderground.com) for Charlotte or Davidson, you'll see what I mean!
I think my blood has thinned after 7 years here though....once upon a time I'd have thought 45 degrees was nice!
You have the weather here spot on! And I agree re thinning blood. I used to think 65 was nice and warm, but now when it starts dropping below 70 in the early fall I'm cold! Never thought I would wear Jeans when it was 75-80, but I do now
