I've taken a new job in Concord, actually right off I-85 at exit 55(?), and have found a temporary place in Indian Trail. Does anyone here drive that route during rush hour? I'm estimating 45 to 50 minutes. Once on 85, I'll be going north in the morning, and assume it's not quite as bad as going south. ?? I've dealt with Nashville traffic at rush hour, so the couple of times I've been in rush hour Charlotte traffic, it really hasn't seemed that bad.

Thanks.

Yeah, heading in that direction isn't too bad in the morning. I'm assuming you'll take I-485 to I-85? I also think the widening project should be wrapping up soon on I-85.

I'm a wimp when it comes to heavey traffic and merging onto I85. I get off on 29 and go by the speedway, turn onto Concord Mills Blvd, (they call it something else on that end, I'm sure someone on here knows what it is and then get on I85 at Concord. It cuts out all of that merging with people that don't know how to merge. I live in Indian Trail, too.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, looking at 485 to 85. I've also looked at that 29 route.
[thebalogas] How long is your commute from Indian Trail?

In rush hour traffic? Wow, we live just north of you and right near 485 exits and it takes my husband longer. I have to tell him to try the 29 route and see if that shortens his trip.

601 is a nicer drive if you don't like the heavy traffic of 485 and 85.
Only issue is some people seem to habitually drive under the speed limit and there's limited safe passing zones.

It depends on where you live in Indian Trail. We live near Lawyers Road, not far from I485.
