if resale within the next 5 yrs or so is possible I'd pass. Having 485 in yr backyard will always be the 800 lb gorilla in teh room.

Aren't they repurposing a large parcel of land in that area, to make way for a new apartment and retail development?

Increased traffic/congestion might be the only concern I'd have for that area, which is highly desirable, convenient, well groomed, and safe. Colonel

As to air pollution, I wouldn't give it a second thought; nor is that area close to any other potential nuisance (e.g. landfills, etc.).

Last but not least, that location is reasonably close to one of CLT's nicest parks:

Outdoor Weddings at Col. Francis Beatty Memorial Park

Hope all works out with your move

Just to clarify, it's near Ballantyne but not in it. I live right by Stone Creek and I agree with others, if resale is important I wouldn't purchase it. If it's heavily discounted compared to nearby homes, possibly but it's a risk.

That area of 485 does get backed up but it's quiet compared to other parts of the highway. And accidents aren't frequent right in that spot. Good luck!
