No, he had to drive in CA. He worked in Beverly Hills. I worked near downtown, but too far from Union Station to really work. I did carpool for years though.

That's a shame.

We took the Gold Line to Union Station, transferred to the Red Line and took it into Hollywood. Had lunch at Musso & Franks, saw a movie, took in the free freak show on the street (there are few places like Hollywood Blvd some nights) and then reversed the process. Certainly not as fast as driving, except for the time saved in rush hour, but much less expensive (including parking in Hollywood) and able to enjoy the company of one's erstwhile passengers.
