We are one of the many families looking to relocate to the Charlotte area. The business that I am negotiating with is located within 1 mile of I-77 and the future I-485 interchange between Charlott and Huntersville.
We are looking in the 450 to 600k range. We have already looked into the South side of Mountain island lake and like it.
We are not huge fans of master planned communities but also don't want to live on a large lot either. Water access would be nice but not needed.
My goal is to be within 20 minutes of the above mentioned office location. My wife and I are both Florida natives (please don't shoot). I am actually a 4th generation native and am fed up with Florida.
We own property in Cashiers NC and have been visiting the area for many years.
We have 2 daughters (3 and 5) and being close to a Christian School is also vitally important.
Macaualy neighborhood is great -Lots of kids and activities - It is in between Birkdale and Wynfield which are also good neighborhoods - just a little older than Macaulay
There are alot of great neighborhoods in Huntersville and Cornelius such as The Hamptons, Birkdale and Heron Harbor. All of those would be within 20 minutes to the Christian school and water access. I live in Cornelius and love it because of the easy access to Lake Norman and shopping.
Click on "2006 Quality of Life Study". It has all the info that you would want regarding the neighborhoods in Charlotte and whether they are on the upswing or down swing.
Southlake Christian Academy is on 73 on the south side of Lake Norman. There are so many options for you to consider on the southern Lake Norman region. Most lake access communities are master planned, however there are other options out there for you. You may want to take a look at Huntersville, Cornelius and Denver. They all have a lot to offer and would be an easy commute. Mountain Island Lake is quite nice, not nearly as large as Lake Norman.
Thank you everybody for your replies. I was just made aware that the company that I am dealing with is building a new corporate office near the Concord Airport which now has me eyeing neighborhoods more to the northeast of Charlotte.
There is some nice new developments already located and being built near that airport on Poplar Tent road between Skybrook Country Club and Cabarrus Country Club
I do not know the names of the developments but here is a map perspective Poplar Tent Rd, Concord, NC, USA - Google Maps
