Where in Indiana are you moving from?

The LKN is a pretty safe area. Most homes are less than 10 years old due to rapid growth in recent years. There are lots of nice, reasonably priced neighborhoods. Cornelius and Davidson real estate is more expensive than Huntersville. The roads are congested in the area. It's pretty frustrating at first, but you'll get used to it after a while.

I moved to the Lake Norman area after a 15-year stop in Indiana. (BTW,I don't recommend that!) I may be able to help answer some specific questions.

Yes it is a great area for families. Use the search function on this board and look for Lake Norman, Cornelius, Huntersville, and Davidson for more information than you can imagine on the subject.

The Lake Norman area is probably one of the safest places in the U.S. as far as crime per capita.

Definitely check out Denver and east Lincoln County as well. It is very laid back, safe, and affordable.

It can be an expensive area to live in. You may want to share your price range here so people can make better suggestions.
