I posted this question a few days ago and did recieve answers. In my original post, I neglected to mention, that I am looking for hotels in the price range of 50-60US per night near CPCC central campus. Can you guys suggest any motels/hotels in that area? Also what is the cost of a cab from the airport to the downtown area?

I am not sure of any hotels really close to CPCC. Airport to uptown cab fare is probably $15-20. The airport is actually pretty close to uptown.

Sassy, sorry to say you won't likely find any hotel that close to CPCC for less than $75 and most will be well over $100. Even $75 may put you in questionable areas. But if you go further away from the uptown area you might find something in that range. So, can you spend more or do you want recommendations for places further out?

All the uptown ones are closest - but they are not cheap.

Sassy, why not consider staying near the airport, where you could most likely get a hotel shuttle bus for free, than pay for the cab ride to CPCC the next day, or whenever you need to be there? This Ameri Suites is offering a $69. room right now: AmeriSuites Charlotte Airport - Charlotte, North Carolina

This is a good idea. If the shuttel doesn't go all the way uptown, you can at least take it, a bus, or a cab to the light rail station (about 3 miles from a lot of the hotels near the airport), then you can take our brand new shiny train downtown. The bus fare includes a free transfer to the train and vice versa. It's $1.30 each way, but the train stops short of CPCC. The free gold rush shuttle may go over there, but I dont think it does.

Thanks to all those who responded. I am looking at the options you guys suggested. Is the Days Inn Center City, a good hotel?

It has gotten bad reviews for years, but people do stay there because it is cheap and right in uptown. You could walk to CPCC from there (about 1.5 miles).

If any hotel is close to uptown is cheap to you then it cheap on quality and the type of people who will linger around it.
