I cannot help but think that if regulators approve and goes thru, will be really bad for consumers.
While comcast has good customer service and good internet uptime etc, I think cable tv subscriber will suffer because of near monopoly. I see a day when we will be paying $100 for basic cable alone...
While I hate TWC, I am not sure Comcast+TWC will be the solution.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Comcast has a presence in the Charlotte market.
I had Comcast's TV & Internet Service when I lived in the Midwest. Hands down, they were the most incompetent, poorly trained, and shady media companies I've ever dealt with: almost random monthly bill amounts, accusing customers of not returning equipment that they have paperwork proving the return, terrible install techs, service outages, etc.
I had Time Warner's Internet Service for a while in the Charlotte area. They were bad, too, but Comcast was worse.
Since both companies are pretty much a flaming disaster, I can't imagine them managing a merger well.
Comcast is pretty terrible from what I hear. Data caps all over the place and pricing that pretty much forces you to buy their cable if you get Internet. It would be a step backwards.
Hated, hated Comcast when we lived in IL. This is going to be a terrible thing for consumers. I don't even like Time Warner Cable, and I will take them hands down before even looking at Comcast.
I've had both Time Warner and Comcast as well and I think they're pretty much the same thing IMO.
I guess this can't really be a good thing, but honestly I don't think it's that bad. As was mentioned, Comcast isn't in Charlotte and I don't believe (but could be wrong) that there are many markets (if any) where they both operate, so it's not like it will create a new monopoly locally.
And people are already starting to cut the cord as it is, the pace of that will increase if the price increases that much.
