Hi! I am relocating my husband and children to the Charlotte area, we are sooo tired of the Northern VA daily grind. I am very interested in the Moss Creek community. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences will Merritt Homes??
Also, what is around the Moss Creek neighborhood? I looked at an arial map on google and it looks pretty rural, nothing but dirt and trees. Is it safe around there?
Real Quick before I head to Church! I a min A merritt home now in Oakhurst about 10 mins from Moss Creek. I will NEVER buy another home through them. These guys are crooks. If I knew what I know know I would have walked from the deal. Do yourself a favor. If you like the neighborhood use a different builder.
Moss Creek is about 10 mins from Birkdale area nd 10-15mins from Concord. Just to recap Do not use Merritt Homes...

Thanks all!!
Moss Creek is a nice area, just down the road from where we bought. It's close to that Rocky River resouvior and close to the 85. I would have considered that subdivision and may still if don't they don't building my house already.
Can I be nosey?... What went wrong with your Merritt home? They "seem" so great on paper, and the girl that I talked with yesterday was super sweet. Do you like your house but not the builders, or are you very unhappy with your house too? Why?
Well, where should I start. The sales guy was great he happily took our deposit, happily promised us that everything in the model home was there standard so therefore they would not put anything in writing as this was standard.
They had many many people in charge but no-one would make the decisions. It was a horrible experience for us. This was 5 years ago before I was a Realtor and let me tell you about 80% of the way they did business would have them fined through the roof. It took close to a year to get our 30 day punch lists accomplished.
They may have changed but I still have a bad taste. You should drive my area and talk with the 5-6 homeowners that are still here and see what they have to say. I am sure they have some stories as well.
please dont use merritt homes. They took my earnest money and refused to refund the money though I did not qualify for the mortage. They are also threatning to charge me for building the home... Stay away from them they are cheats.
Today Merritt homes has not refunded my earnest money thier only arguement is that I did not use thier lender. Or the hope program... I am contacting a lawer. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau.
Do not do business with them..
If you can get a letter from your mortgage company that you cannot qualify IMO they do not have a leg to stand on. I think a letter from a lawyer and your mortgage broker will take care of Dale and the "crew". Best of luck to you.
We are moving to Charlotte next week. Moss Creek and Glen Grove are two communities we were looking at to build. We signed a 6 month lease on a home in Cornelius to live in while our home is being built. If we build in Moss Creek we are looking to build with Shea. Some folks had experiences with them in other communites that weren't positive, but I haven't heard anybody complain about building with them in Moss Creek. I think they have a pretty good rep overall. I was out there in April. It is a lovely community with nice ammenities. It is kinda rural, but those satellite photos are really out of date. There are allot more homes actually built now than the ones that show on those photos. It is still pretty close to where I will be working in the University area and it has good schools. We actually preferred the house in Glen Grove, built by M/I. That neighborhood is on the South side of 85 near the Lowes Speed Way. It has a smaller pool, but it is a much smaller community. It has less trees, because it was built on pasture land, where Moss Creek was surrounded by Forest. the M/I home was a little more in price too, but again you get a bigger lot. If you really like Moss Creek you might want to try another builder like Shea or Ryan
