Ways to meet people my age in Charlotte?
My husband and I are in our late 20's and new to Charlotte. Aside from church, what are some good ways to meet people our age? Are there any kind of events or clubs that we could join? We live in South Charlotte, so anything aroud there would be great.

Have you looked into joining a Meetup Group? You can search the web site for groups that share your interest, and I believe you can narrow it down by geographic area.
Here's the URL: Meetup: World's largest community of local Meetups, clubs and groups!
Another way you might meet other people is to volunteer.
Good luck!

There are many opportunities outside of church. Not knowing your interest, here are a few ideas:
Join the Young Affiliates of the Mint Museum of Charlotte About Us (I like to call them the Junior Mints )
From their website: The Young Affiliates of the Mint is a group of diverse young professionals who promote and support the Mint Museum of Art and the Mint Museum of Craft and Design through educational, volunteer, leadership and social opportunities. Started in 1990, the Young Affiliates serve as the premier social arts organization for young professionals in the Charlotte area.
If you like to run/jog, join a running group. You could train for a marathon, a half marathon or just join the group for Saturday runs. Two such programs are the Jeff Galloway Training Groups - Charlotte and the Leukemia Society Team in Training.
Go on a gallery crawl. There are crawls in the Southend and NoDa (North Davidson) the first and third Friday of every month.
Join a YMCA. Many of the areas branches have programs for young professionals.
Go to wine tastings, take a cooking glass, volunteer with Hands on Charlotte, Habitate for Humanity or Center City Partners. Pick up a Creative Loafing and read the classifieds - there are many, many activities listed there.
Welcome to Charlotte and enjoy getting to know our city!

- my college alumni association does chapter events. i meet new people and i've seen some familiar people from school too.
- recreational clubs, co-ed sports teams (bowling, kickball, softball, flag football, volleyball, etc...)
- join a volunteer organization. i'm looking into getting involved w/ Project Halo. if you have dogs, that's a great way to meet people. go to the dog park, talk to other owners, meet up for playdates.
- there are several professional organizations.

Young Professional Society of Charlotte
- have you thought about Junior League? i don't think i'd fit into that group, but i know its popular with many women.

Pick up a Creative Loafing. They have pages and pages of events, social clubs, and weekly entertainment guides. There are TONS of things you can try out, just from reading Creative Loafing. Creative Loafing Charlotte

If you like to dance, there is the Havana Dance Club in Cornelius. They have different nights where lessons are given (Ballroom, Latino, Shag) and other nights where dance clubs/groups meet. I plan on joining the shag (the U.S. version) club when I move there. It is a great place to meet people. I am sure that such clubs are offered throughtout Mecklenburg county.

Now that I think about it. You probably don't need to do anything other than what you normally do to meet people your age. People are everywhere. They are in grocery stores, libraries, museums, and sports fields. Unless you are stand offish, you should have absolutely no problem. Heck, if you see a couple that seem nice and you might like to know, just introduce yourself. Be sure that you introduce yourself in a manner that will elliminate them thinking you are a weirdo. Good luck and just let nature take its course. Friends will come.
