Waxhaw and Union County for that matter are basically smaller versions of the northeast. If you took drones of transplants from Jersey, NY and Ohio and moved them down here Waxhaw and Union County would be the result.

I would think the lower taxes, good schools and bigger houses would be the appeal, especially if you are used to paying what they pay in the northeast. You can get a lot more for your money in Waxhaw, hence the appeal to anyone moving here from another higher cost of living state.

Waxhaw is certainly a pretty area, lots of larger lots and woods, other than the commute I can see the appeal to a family.

Who are these people that aren't paying taxes?? What am I doing wrong if I am paying taxes?

Hit the nail on the head......we are recent transplants from New England and love Waxhaw !! More then 70% of our community are from the North East.

I'm fine with Waxhaw. I own a plumbing company, but I tell the neighbors that I'm in finance.

Gotta keep up appearances.

Can anyone tell me how far Waxhaw is from Rock Hill, SC? Like how long of a commute would it be from Waxhaw to Winthrop University? Thanks!

Winthrop University on Cherry RD in Rock Hill is approximately 30-40 minutes from Waxhaw, depending on what part of Waxhaw you are leaving from. 160 (Fort Mill Highway) can get backed up if you are commuting during rush hours though, I am not sure if there is a better route.

There's still a bit of confusion about "Waxhaw".

What people don't seem to realize is that there's Village of Waxhaw and the 28173 zip code that is called "Waxhaw". They're not the same thing. Unlike the northeast, where you live doesn't necessarily match your zip code. If someone has a Waxhaw NC 28173 mailing address, they could potentially live in the Village of Waxhaw, Marvin, Weddington, Wesley Chapel, or unincorporated Union County.
