Default Living In Charlotte

How do the people in Charlotte like living there and why? Besides the Southpark Mall which others are nice. I know the uptown night life is good. How are the apartments for those who rent. Any recommendations? don't want to be too far from uptown area and I will be using the bus line.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you,

Personally, I'm enjoying Charlotte more than Raleigh. We lived in Raleigh from March to October of this year, after having lived in the DC area for 9 years.

In my opinion, Raleigh is a great place to live if you have a family, and I know many people relocate there just for this reason. However, with Raleigh I feel you have to be very careful with the job market (of course, you could say that about any city!). I'm feeling a bit burned because we moved to Raleigh for my DH's job, which didn't work out. He was unable to locate another job in his field, and after interviewing repeatedly for companies here in Charlotte, we decided to make a go of it here. Fortunately for us, we do not have any children so we didn't have to worry about pulling them out of school and away from new friends. Our dog made the move just fine!

I'm not out to knock Raleigh, as there are many great things about that city. It just wasn't the right fit for us.

Again, this is just my own experience, but I feel like Charlotte just has a different "vibe" about it. There seems to be more "going on" here, which I like. You can search this forum for other folks' opinions on the two cities -- try searching for "Raleigh vs. Charlotte" and I'm sure something will come up.

PS - I'm renting an apartment in Strawberry Hill (Marsh Properties ~ Strawberry Hill Apartments), which is right on Providence Road. Providence will take you into uptown and I believe there is a bus that stops at the entrance to the community. A word of caution - Providence Road, while very direct, does get a lot of traffic, so you might want to factor that in if you are going to commute for work.

Good luck to you!

I miss Cornelius even with the traffic problems.

Charlotte IMO is better than Greensboro, Raleigh and Winston Salem.

I'm in uptown right now. Busy place.....I think the typical term is called rat race.....not unexpected though.
