Default Decent houses under $125,000?

Am I unrealistic, or are there any houses in decent neighborhoods under $125K? (By decent, I mean, I don't want to be shot, or have cockroaches as roommates....)

Are you set on a sngle family or would you consider a townhouse/condo/duplex? There are plenty of those around under 125k. We got a nice 5 year old 2 br 2 ba duplex in Fort Mill over the summer in an awesome location for under 100k and we love it. It's only 1100 sq foot, but laid out efficietly and perfect for us, plus no city taxes or HOA.

are you talking inside the city limits or in the surrounding suburbs? within charlotte I know that my friend has a house off of Pavillions Drive which is a nice quiet neighborhood and her house was around that price. Its not huge, but you get what you pay for. They are out there though, and I think theres probably a lot of houses for sale around there b/c it seems like they're all fairly new houses.

There's a couple of developments off of Old Statesville Rd. and some others I think off of Beatties Ford Rd. that are around that price range.

Talking "Decent houses under $125,000?"

...It is a buyer's market, I think the best thing to do first is to identify the area where you want to live in, and then look for the property according to your budget.
In this changing market, so you may be able to find great deals almost anywhere, it could be a pre-foreclosure unit, a developer's deal, a great unit located on a slow market area; etc.
Good luck in your search.

The houses in the 125k range off beatties ford are not on the Huntersville side of beatties ford, so I would not recommend those. I agree with groove about the townhomes/condos. Even then though he is right, you'd have to look at Ft Mill, Concord, and other bedroom communities for that price. It can be done though.

I really would like something outside of town, maybe slightly in the country. A nice, small house. I currently live on Harris Blvd, near Mallard Creek, and think I want to get out a little bit from the hustle and bustle....

Check Anchors Landing in Sherrills Ford, NC. We looked at buying a rental property there in May and found a 1600sqft home, 1/3 acre lot fenced, 3/2, 2 car garage for $133K. I'd imagine they would have negotiated a bit, who knows.

The duplex we bought is in Fort Mill...a mix of suburbia and rural. Check your pm's as my neighbor is selling hers and it's a nice house. You could probably get it cheaper.

If you're willing to live on a small lot, there are options in Gaston County.
