I moved to Charlotte to give my folks a hand and left a job in X-ray, I was there for five years. I have been sending resumes to all local Hospitals, Carolinas Healthcare, Presbyterian, and as many others as I can find. Does anyone out there have any other suggestions as I am still new to the area, basically green.
I have tried to introduce myself to some of the Hospitals Radiology Departments, but was stopped dead in my tracks and was told basically everything is done over the internet and websites. Interesting how we don't meet and greet anymore and it's all electronic, guess I'm a little old fashion. Anyways if anyone has any connections or advice I would love to hear it and by the way the weather is great down here.
Thank you all for listening I will await your reply
You didn't mention what type or Radiology job you were looking for, but I imagine this will be a good start.
If they tell you they only want applicats through the internet, then I would apply through the internet.
Thank you for the reply, I am currently a registered Diagnostic Radiology Tech. I have applied at the following website and appreciate the information.
Might be a little off topic, but you're in a job field that I was interested in. May I ask how much schooling it required for your degree and the relaitve nature of the work?
It took 2 years of schooling through an accredited Radiology program. You must be people oriented and be able to work in most cases in a fast paced environment, thinking on the fly and multi tasking most of the time. Also you will see things that most people don't see everyday depending on the hospital. Overall it's a great job usually with great people, politics can be different, but you do the job you were trained for and you do it well. People in pain or need is interesting work.

Great insight, I like it. I had just one more additional question. I had read that there is a saturation of too many radiologists out there now. Does that still exist today? Or was that only in the heigh of the great recession?
According the BLS website I see a huge surge in the number of radiologists being hired over the next 10 years, but people's personal stories tell me it's extremely difficult to get hired. Your thoughts?
I am finding it difficult to find a job and the more I look into it, it seems that yeh it is probably saturated down here. I am still going to give it my best and there are alot of people moving down. They are building hospitals all over it seems, but they are also putting out a great number of techs as well through their own hospital based programs. I will just have to get a little crafty in my pursuit.

You don't say which part of the area you are located in. There are numerous medical-related job threads on here. Most are for RNs. Some of the RNs have posted that they were told, by the CMC system, to apply to locations other than CMC Main. Sit down with a map & see which of their facilities are do-able for you. Also keep in mind that Presbyterian has a smaller system. Depending on your location, Gaston Memorial might work for you. That is yet a different system.
A few years ago, there was a "shortage" of rad techs. Several CC added programs/increased how many they admitted. No shortage any more. Same with dental hygiene.
Sorry...
Try applying at some of the larger doctors' offices. Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat has a few locations around the city & they have their own x-ray & CT scanners. Carolina Neurological Associates has their own x-ray department as well as a portable MRI unit. If you've worked with MRIs try applying to the companies that truck the portable scanners around, maybe they have tech openings.
