Mattamy builds a decent home for the price. As a local builder, I can really say no more.

Default There are some issues

I bought a Mattamy Home and it was sold to me without electrical power and the furnace was illegally (code) wired to the house next door. I did not have access to this neighbouring home. In order to close a house, you need a working furnace. Thus, Mattamy used this illegal and unethical method to ensure a closed deal. A Town of Oakville inspector passed this furnace. I should note that the Town of Oakville has received large donations for community projects from Mattamy. The Building department head stated they would never allow a house to close in this condition......

It is for this and other reasons that I recommend, no matter who the builder is, that you put into your contract that you can not only hire a home inspector but they be allowed access during the construction phase, thus protecting your large investment and to ensure the safety of your family. Mattamy sold me a house that put my family at risk and I feel a home inspector would have warned me in time to prevent this from happening. Mattamy sells homes and in this case, they broke the code in order to do it. I understand that due to the mortgage problems, the housing market in the US is having problems. I only hope that the builders don't cut corners to make their profit, which is primary.
Good luck

DO NOT BUY FROM MATTAMY! I understand that this homebuilder once had excellent customer satisfaction ratings - but that was years ago. This homebuilder will "court" you throughout the build process but once you've closed, the honeymoon is over! They will refuse to take responsibility for any issues within the home and will purposely stall in hopes that you will just go away. I've never before experienced working with a provider of any service where they put the BLAME on the customer! If you have any question, just ask a homeowner in the Summers Walk subdivision... you will be enlightened.
