Well, if you don't do them yourself w/turbotax or taxcut, there's always Block and Jackson-Hewitt.....not sure of private practice outfits...

p.s. This will prob come up again, but if any newbie to the area itemizes, don't forget to start pulling your moving expense receipts/charges....its deductable....

Unless your employer reimburses you for moving expenses ... then its the employer's deduction :-)

I am ready for my refund now. Wll even drive to Raleigh to pick it up (just kidding). Federal refund is a differnt story. Memphis is a bit to far to drive. They can mail that one. Of course that is the largest return too.

Zwally - tax prep will depend on the complexity of your return. Most preparers including H&R, Jackson Hewitt will start with a floor, a minimum. then as you add schedules, you get charged more and more. For example, if you sold stock, that's one schedule, if you used daycare, another, if you had unreimbursed emp. expense, that's another, and it goes on and on. Multi-state returns will also cost you more. Remember that if you live in SC but work in Charlotte, you will have 2 state returns, and vice versa. If your returns are simple, might be worth it to take a stab yourself.

I am looking forward to itemizing as well. Between the moving and the medical expenses for my fiance (which do exceed 7.5% of her annual income) we should do ok.

FYI for all the people that moved it has to be more than 50 miles to claim the moving expenses.

Me I use turbo tax online and pay for what I use.

I have a lot of complex issues: at least 2 state returns, teaching deductions, university deductions, homeowners deductions possibly, moving expenses, 401K, etc.... I don't know where to start, so I don't want to do it myself. I hope it's not too much that I don't even get a refund!
