Realize that if you live on the SC side of Metro Charlotte (e.g. Fort Mill) that SC rules for driver's licenses are different from NC. If you renew your license now, you don't have to take a test to get a license in SC. You have to do it if your license expires before you apply.

Does anyone know how hard it is to pass a driving test in NC?

My daughter is about to take the test here in NYC, but maybe it's better to just take one in Charlotte once we move.
It's good for any newcomer, like me, to read through the DMV book. Even after 30 years of driving a little refresher is good. There will be 1 or 2 questions regarding farm vehicles, naturally. ALSO pay more attention to the purple highlights in the book. Here is one answer. The percentage of accidents that result in deaths by drunk driving is 38%. Got that one wrong, but passed on the first try. We got to the DMV office at 10 am and was out in about 1 1/4 hrs. Getting our plates was a longer and more expensive visit!
